Something genuinely Norwegian in central Oslo

You have walked Karl Johan, seen the Opera House and maybe taken the trip up to Holmenkollen. Now what? If you want to experience something Norwegian that is not in every guidebook, a private spirits tasting is one of the best things you can do in Oslo.

At our place in Tollbugata 19 we welcome visitors and locals for private tastings focused on aquavit, Norwegian whisky and craft spirits from small distilleries across the country.

    Why Norwegian spirits?

Norway has a proud spirits tradition that most tourists never get to experience properly. Aquavit is our national drink, flavoured with caraway or dill and often aged in sherry casks during long sea voyages across the equator. The last 15 years have also seen a strong craft scene grow, with whisky, gin and interesting spirits made from Norwegian ingredients.

In a tasting with us you will explore:

    * Classic aquavit from Linie, Gilde and some of the smaller producers

    * Norwegian whisky from distilleries like Myken, Aurora Spirit and Det Norske Brenneri

    * Local gin and spirits built on Norwegian botanicals

    * The story behind each bottle, told by a spirits sommelier

About two hours, from 2 000 NOK total.

    What you take home

More than just a nice evening. You leave with some real knowledge of Norwegian drinking culture, good recommendations for what is worth bringing home from the Vinmonopolet, and a few stories to share when you get back.
